This tutorial introduces the basic in editing the templates you
purchase from us. Please note that these templates are designed
for users who have a basic knowledge of Flash. Below are some easy
steps as to how one can edit these templates.
Full source file (FLA) for each template is provided, and you can
edit just about anything out of it - including a really unique introduction
to your site. From the source file, you can export the SWF and HTML
files for publishing purpose. Please note that SWF file is a compiled
movie, and .FLA file is the source that you will edit. It is strongly
recommended that you use Flash MX or 6.0 to edit our templates as
most of them are made using Flash MX. If you dont have the
software, you can download its trial version at http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=flash
Replacing Text
Open the FLA file you extracted from the Zip file you downloaded.
The easiest way to go about changing everything is by scrolling
all the components in the library. You can do this by pressing F11
and then you will see the Library windows on the lower right. What
you can also do is to run your Flash editor step-by-step to find
occurrences of symbols that you need changed.
Please note that you should make sure the timeline is visible and
the movie is rewound to start. You can rewind the movie by selecting
Control>Rewind. Adjust zooming by using View>Magnification.
You can play the movie step-by-step by using Control>Step Forward
or typing . (dot). Search the scene for text that needs
to be changed.
From the library, you can browse through it and choose which component
you wish to edit. You can do that by right clicking the component
and then choose Edit. To change text, simply double
click it when you see them.
Please note that, though infrequently, symbols themselves happen
to be animated movies with their own layers, keyframes, tweening,
and embedded symbols. You can freely apply the descriptions above
to edit animated symbols.
Replacing graphics
As described above, you can locate the components in the library
by pressing F11.
Right-click anywhere in the scene and select Select All
from the drop-down menu. Press Del to erase the entire
content of the symbol. You may want to make a backup of your template
prior to attempting to introduce any substantial changes. You can
insert any external graphics you need by selecting File>Import.
Return to movie editing mode by using Edit>Movie. When finished
customizing text and graphics, look through the whole intro to make
sure none of your changes resulted in some undesired effects. You
can use HTML or Flash preview mode listed in File>Publish Preview
to check.
Replacing Music
To replace music of the template, you need to go to the library
and locate the clip first. Right click on it and then select linkage.
Please note whether the checkbox for "Export for ActionScript"
is checked. It should be checked and keep in mind the name of the
identifier. If its not checked, then close the linkage window
and delete the clip from library by pressing CTRL+R to import a
new clip. Give the new clip a name. If the checkbox "Export
for ActionScript" was checked on the old one, right click on
the new one and select linkage. Then check that checkbox and put
there the identifier name you have from the old one. For details
of how to play with sound files, you can also visit this site: http://www.kennybellew.com/
Publishing HTML
When you are satisfied with the appearance of your web site, you
can publish it so that it can be used as your site. You can play
around with the appearance of the exported files by choosing Publish
Settings.
